MySpace & Facebook Challenge Mobile-only SNS
VENTURE BEAT -- May 9 -- Mobile life is blooming. MySpace Mobile USA
had 1.4 billion visits last month. That's compared to 1 billion visits to
MocoSpace this March, according to Mocospace CEO Justin Siegel. Facebook Mobile
has also passed MocoSpace's numbers in the USA,
too, but didn't give me specific numbers. MySpace Mobile launched in December
2006, followed by Facebook Mobile a month later. The growth of MySpace Mobile
and Facebook Mobile is mainly due to operator deals that put them "ondeck.
MySpace Mobile has signed 23 carriers in 13 countries, and we expect the number
to rise. FULL ARTICLE @ VENTURE BEAT
Mark Brooks: I'm at the Mobile Social Networking & UGC Conference
in Amsterdam right now, and am headed to the Mobile & Business
Social Networking Conference next week in San Francisco. The main
revelation I've learned so far is that mobile social network users are
distinct from web SNS users. The CEO of AirG stated during a chat over
lunch that his SNS users are the 'people who power America.' i.e. they
are the working class folks whose cell phones are lifelines that they
use as their primary communications and internet mode.
