NEWSDAY -- July 29 -- Growth in sales for Verizon Wireless, which added 1.5m customers, was driven by broadband access, e-mail and messaging. Verizon Wireless customers sent or received nearly 70 billion SMS during the period. Service plans for sending text messages also have become less expensive.
