TELEGRAPH.CO.UK - Oct 17 - Debuting in July 2010, BranchOut, the career networking tool, was dubbed the LinkedIn for Facebook. In April 2012, it boasted 25M users and secured $25M in Series C funding. More than three new users join BranchOut every second. As of July 2012 LinkedIn had ~175M users, with some two new members joining per second. In the year to July 2012, revenues grew 89% to $228.2M. Its closest competitor is the rapidly growing Viadeo, founded in 2004. Companies are also embracing networking as much as the consumer. Evidence that there is a corporate value in creating conversations between companies and employees is Yammer's 2012 sale to Microsoft for $1.2B, at 40 times 2011's revenues.
