COLUMBIA NEWS SERVICE -- Dec 26 -- Kupple.com is geared to couples looking to befriend other couples. Its competitors are Couplesworldwide.com and Couplets.com. The three sites, which started in 2006, cater to couples of all kinds, from teenagers to retirees, straight and gay, religious and secular. They are about building friendships, not helping couples who are interested in swinging. Despite the large number of couples in the United States, some experts doubt whether the sites will catch on. PRESS RELEASE -- July 11 -- In a survey of its membership, Couplets.com, designed exclusively for couples meeting other couples, found 10% are couples age 50+. Of those members responding to the question why, 56% described themselves as "Empty Nesters" or retirees. These findings are in stark contrast with the standard perception of online social networking, based on MySpace, Facebook. Mark Brooks: Some argue that there's a significant market for a site to help couples meet and get out. Outside of the market for swingers, I'm not sure. Singles are far more active. I don't know of a significant couples meet up site yet. Do you?
