DAYTON BUSINESS JOURNAL - June 9 - 59% of social media users said it's more important to have a LinkedIn account than any other type of network membership, according to a study released by ROI Research Inc. Of the study respondents who have an account with LinkedIn, 50% visit the site at least weekly and 20% visit the site at least daily.

Social Networking Creates First Day IPO Pops
SEEKING ALPHA - July 1 - In its first day, Linkedin (LNKD) hit $122.70 and is now down 34%. With LNKD there is no valuation comparison, because LNKD was the first US-based social network to IPO; it appears the investment bank purposely scaled down the IPO size to engineer a first-day moonshot. We also saw the ‘first day social networking IPO pop syndrome in action with social network Renren (RENN), which hit $24 the first day and is now down 46%.
Facebook Shares May Have Surged on LinkedIn IPO
TECH CRUNCH - May 27 - Shares of Facebook, which is traded on private secondary markets, spiked briefly in March to $34, which is an $85 valuation. Prices settled at $31.50. The surge in price may have been due to LinkedIn's impressive IPO.
LinkedIn Eyes Business Opportunities in China
REUTERS - May 26 - LinkedIn has a small presence in the country and is one of the few foreign social networks to still have access to Chinese Internet users. Twitter and Facebook are blocked in China. "It is a very competitive market," Arvind Rajan, VP of Asia Pacific and Japan at Linkedin. "There are political challenges, technical challenges. There are a whole lot of things for us to go through. At this point, we are just here to explore the market, to talk to people."

LinkedIn Valued at $8.9 Billion
MASHABLE - May 20 - LinkedIn has ended its first day as a publicly traded company with shares above $94 each, 108% higher than the $45 at which each share was initially priced. At $94, LinkedIn is now valued at $8.9 billion, 36 times the $243M in revenue the company generated in 2010.
LinkedIn Raises IPO Share Price To $42-$45, $4 Billion Valuation
TECH CRUNCH - May 17 - Professional social network LinkedIn has increased its IPO pricing from $32-$35 to $42-$45. This 30% price increase raises the valuation from $3 billion to $4 billion. The initial share offering remains at 7,840,000 shares. The company hopes to raise as much as $406 million through the offering.
LinkedIn IPO Set For May 19th
WSJ - May 15 - Professional networking site, LinkedIn will begin public trading this Wednesday with IPO hoping to raise up to $274 million. The company will being trading on the NYSE under the symbol LNKD. LinkedIn's 2010 revenues were $243 million. Analysts expect the stock to do well, but IPOs from Facebook, Groupon and Twitter would bring much more investor attention.

LinkedIn Going Live With Shares And Sign-ins
FAST COMPANY - Apr 6 - LinkedIn has launched its new platform to everyone online interested in hooking up to the business networking site's APIs. Useful stuff, for some, but what it's really about is trying to usurp Facebook in the enterprise social networking space. LinkedIn says it's all about "building the professional Web," or, rather, aping some of Facebook's existing features and making it easy for developers to access LinkedIn's data in order to try to beat Facebook to creating a social network for the business world.
LinkedIn Passes 100 Million Members
TECH CRUNCH - Mar 22 - LinkedIn, which launched in 2003, says that it is now being used in ~200 countries, with more than half of its users originating from outside the U.S. The U.S. has 44M LinkedIn members, and there are 56M members outside of the U.S. Brazil is seeing the highest growth rate, with new user adoption rising 428% YOY. Mexico is also seeing major growth, with membership growing by 178% YOY. So while 100M users is an impressive milestone, the company admits that its active users are below this number. How much below, however, is unclear. According to comScore, LinkedIn saw 71.5M unique visitors worldwide in Feb.
LinkedIn Posts $243M In 2010 Revenue
TECH CRUNCH - Mar 13 - From 2009 to 2010, LinkedIn's net revenue increased $123M, or 102%, to $243M. Net income increased $19.4M, or 487%, to $15.4M. The company took a $3.9M loss in 2009 terms of net income, with 2010 as the first profitable year for the network. According to the filing, 42% of 2010 revenue came hiring solutions ($101.8M), 33% came from marketing ($79.3M); and 25% came from premium subscriptions ($61.9M).
LinkedIn Launches Social News Site For Professionals
READ WRITE WEB - Mar 10 - LinkedIn has launched LinkedIn Today, an industry newspaper available online and via LinkedIn's iPhone app. It offers headlines and links to the popular stories within certain industries and within user's LinkedIn network. Users will be able to see what others in their profession are reading, as well as "save" articles to read later.

TECH CRUNCH - Fev 24 - It appears that LinkedIn has been blocked in China, after the professional social network became a platform for organizing anti-government protests.
LinkedIn Experimenting With New Business Models
SEEKING ALPHA - Feb 1 - LinkedIn is planning a $175M IPO soon in 2011, but the date is still not fixed. LinkedIn has now 90M members in 200 countries. For 2010 we do know the company has ~$200M in annual revenues. The rate of growth is 200% from a year ago. Applying a P/E ratio of 10X, would give a $2 billion valuation company, before the IPO. LinkedIn IPO Is Coming
MINYANVILLE - Jan 27 - According to Bloomberg and other sources, professional social networking site LinkedIn is set to file for an IPO with the SEC today. The company has retained Morgan Stanley, Bank of America and JP Morgan Chase to lead the offering, Bloomberg reported, citing "a person familiar with the situation." LinkedIn Acquires CardMunch And Will Offers Its Service For Free
TECH CRUNCH - Jan 26 – LinkedIn has completed the purchase of start-up CardMunch for an undisclosed amount. CardMunch is a service which scans business cards and coverts them into phone contacts via Amazon's Mechanical Turk. LinkedIn users will be able to use CardMunch's business card scanning services, which used to cost $2.99 for the app and .25 cents per card after the first 10 cards, for free with a refund given to people with pre-existing credits. LinkedIn Private Market Valuation Nears $3B
MASHABLE - Jan 21 – Popular business-oriented social network, LinkedIn, has been valued at $2.51 billion, though the company's 97.1 million shares currently trade for $30 a piece, bringing that value to $2.91 billion. LinkedIn Takes Groups Public
TECH CRUNCH - Dec 20 - Launched in Aug '09, LinkedIn Groups allows anyone to create a forum around a specific subject or profession where users can comment and share news and information. In June, LinkedIn spruced up the Groups feature, adding the ability to like a discussion, follow a group and more. As of June, LinkedIn had ~650K groups on LinkedIn, with the largest amassing 200K members.
